The Torres Girls 2003 - 2015
For over a dozen years, I have photographed and composed works of art of the four Torres sisters, Sarah, Nicole, Anna, Samantha and their mother, Simone. I watched the always lovely spirit and physical body of the girls grow up and personalities evolve. Starting in 2003, these works were mixed media with encaustic which gave them this soft dream-like quality, and had inscribed line work in oils. Then in 2011, I composed them in mixed media with rubber which produced a soft feel but with more clarity and a warm old world feel. Then by 2013 I worked with clear resin which brought the figures to a highly focused and glossy hard edge finish. Finally in 2015, I started to use Medium de Lissage with the works that brought back a softer moody hand while remaining glossy. Here is a selected history of works inspired by these remarkable girls and woman in chronological order from 2003 to 2015.
